Tech venture capitalist Marc Andreessen and Cisco veteran Kelly Kramer were named to Coinbase’s board of directors as full members, the cryptocurrency exchange said Wednesday.
Andreessen, a former “board observer” will now have his say on Coinbase’s operations as full director. So does Kramer, the board’s new chairman of audit and compliance. She replaces former head of audit Chris Dodds.
The boardroom shakes beef up the Coinbase table with old and new faces. Andreessen’s VC company, Andreessen Horowitz, first invested in Coinbase in 2013. Kramer, who is only Coinbase’s second female director, has run Cisco’s financial affairs for the past six years. She also sits at a snowflake table.
The composition of the Coinbase board could take on a higher importance if the company chose to pursue its consideration of a public offering. The Tech-heavy Nasdaq stock exchange is pushing its listed companies to increase boardroom diversity.
Coinbase is aggressively hiring across the work ranks – partly to patch the recent attrition of employees. Its C-suite jobs are also on the rise.
