Tutorial: Getting started with the Reporting Framework

Step 1: Install the application

The Reporting Framework has been developed using Electron making it easy for us to distribute to our Mac, Windows and Linux users. To download the version for your operating system, navigate to our Github releases page and install the latest software.

Step 2: Add API keys

Once you download one of the above statements you can go ahead and start the application. At initial load you are prompted to install the api keys

Once downloaded and installed one of the statements above, create a set of read-only keys via bitfinex.com/api. Make a note of them, as you will need the keys for login.

Step 3: Login and Sync

Use API and Secret Key to log in and wait until cloud synchronization is complete as shown on the image.

Step 4: Ready to use

Once synchronization is complete, software is ready for use.

Useful Tips

Where is csv Exported?

When using MAC csv exports are saved in directory ~ / Library / Application Support / bfx-report-electron / csv.

When using Windows or Linux, csv exports are stored in the csv directory where the application was unzipped / installed.

How to Create a Tax Report?

To create a tax report, go to the tax report option on the left menu of the software. Then select the desired start and end dates to generate the report, and press the query button.

This would create a snapshot of the account at the beginning and end of the period, showing all the account movements and the gain or loss of the period expressed in USD.
